Guidelines for hazard reduction burns in koala habitat
Tweed Shire Council engaged Wildsite to prepare best-practice guidelines to undertake hazard-reduction, ecological and cultural burns within koala habitat within the Local Government Area (LGA).
The guidelines outline procedures to determine when a planned burn is needed and minimise adverse impacts from burns on koalas, koala habitat, fire-sensitive vegetation and cultural heritage values. The guidelines are widely applicable beyond the Tweed LGA.
