Review of Environmental Factors: Burn Program – Tooloom National Park

Wildsite was engaged by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to prepare a Review of Environmental Factors for an ongoing planned burn program in Tooloom National Park and Captains Creek Nature Reserve.

The most significant fire-management issues affecting the proposal area include:

  • Recurring wildfire damage to rainforest (25%) and neighbouring plantations
  • Low-frequency fire (22% of sclerophyll forests)
  • Severe wildfire impacts to previously long-unburnt sclerophyll forests (19% of sclerophyll forests)
  • High-frequency fire in 2% of sclerophyll forests
